On March 4, 2025, a San Diego federal district court judge ruled that that a damages case involving four mothers and their fyoung children could go forward, denying the government’s motion to dismiss the majority of their claims. Within days of giving birth in San Diego, each of the mothers and their newborn U.S. citizen babies were expelled to Mexico with little beyond the clothes they were wearing. Each mother struggled for months to survive in Mexico, living in shelters and relying on handouts.
